Monday-morning chaos is usually made on Sunday — or rather, by what did not happen on Sunday. The Sunday Reset is a 30-minute shared routine that hands you a calm week. Here is how it works.
Set a timer for 30 minutes. Not an hour, not "until it is done." Thirty minutes, both partners, same time each week. Put on a shared playlist — when the music ends, you are done no matter what. A finish line is what makes it sustainable.
Divide into three 10-minute zones. Kitchen (dishes, counters, fridge toss), living areas (pickup, surfaces, cushions), and laundry-plus-trash (one load started, bins out). Do not deep-clean; you are resetting, not renovating.
Three rules: do it together (side by side beats dividing and disappearing), no phones (they turn 30 minutes into 90), and end with something nice — tea, a walk, an episode of something. The reward wires your brain to look forward to next Sunday.
Why it works: the work is shared so nobody resents it, it is time-boxed so nobody dreads it, and it is weekly so mess never compounds into a weekend-eating project. Thirty minutes on Sunday buys you five calm mornings.
